Elementary Education Major, Middle School Science Concentration (B.S.)

This major is offered through the School of Liberal Arts + Education. The Elementary Education major with a Middle School Science concentration is designed to prepare students for a public and private teaching career in grades K-6 with an endorsement in grades 5-8. The program is structured to meet the Professional Education Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) Elementary Education and Endorsement licensure requirements. The student must be accepted into the Teacher Education Department and meet all of the requirements.

Program Requirements
I. Core Curriculum - 50 Credits
II. Elementary Education Major - 53-57 Credits
All major core classes and education core classes as well as general education English, math or science classes require a minimum passing grade of a C. A. Middle School Communication Arts & Literature Concentration - 22 Credits
B. Middle School Math Concentration - 23 Credits
C. Middle School Science Concentration - 22 Credits
D. Middle School Social Studies Concentration - 22 Credits
E. Preprimary Concentration - 22 Credits
F. Elementary Education K-6 Only - 19 Credits
Students who want to pursue the K-6 Elementary Education license only must receive approval from the Teacher Education department. III. Education Core - 22 Credits
Total - 125-129 Credits

Departmental Acceptance
Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester. A minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA is required for departmental admission in the Teacher Education Department . Fall Semester - 14-15 Credits
