Elementary Education Major, Preprimary Concentration (B.S.)

This major is offered through the School of Liberal Arts + Education. The Elementary Education major with a Preprimary concentration is designed to prepare students for a public and private teaching career in grades K-6 with an endorsement in ages 3-K. The program is structured to meet the Professional Education Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) Elementary Education and Endorsement licensure requirements. The student must be accepted into the Teacher Education Department and meet all of the requirements.

Program Requirements
I. Core Curriculum - 50 Credits
II. Elementary Education Major - 53-57 Credits
All major core classes and education core classes as well as general education English, math or science classes require a minimum passing grade of a C. A. Middle School Communication Arts & Literature Concentration - 22 Credits
B. Middle School Math Concentration - 23 Credits
C. Middle School Science Concentration - 22 Credits
D. Middle School Social Studies Concentration - 22 Credits
E. Preprimary Concentration - 22 Credits
F. Elementary Education K-6 Only - 19 Credits
Students who want to pursue the K-6 Elementary Education license only must receive approval from the Teacher Education department. III. Education Core - 22 Credits
Total - 125-129 Credits
A minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper (300-400) level for a bachelor degree. This program is subject to change based on Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board revisions. | Four-Year Suggested Program for the Elementary Education Major with Pre-Primary Minor

Departmental Acceptance
Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester. A minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA is required for departmental admission in the Teacher Education Department . Fall Semester - 14-15 Credits
