Organic Chemistry 1 introduces the structure, nomenclature, properties, and reactions of hydrocarbons and functional groups such as alcohols, ethers, and alkyl halides. Topics include bonding, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms, alkenes, AND alkynes. The course emphasizes understanding molecular structure and reactivity fundamental to biological and chemical processes.

Prerequisite: CHE 261 and CHE 262
