CHE 261 - General Chemistry I

General Chemistry 1 introduces fundamental chemical principles, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and the properties of gases, liquids, and solids. Topics cover the periodic table, chemical reactions, thermochemistry, and atomic theory. This course provides the foundational knowledge necessary for advanced study in chemistry and related sciences.

This course plus CHE 261L  is equivalent to SCI 2451  and SCI 2452  (both must be taken).

Prerequisite: MAT 131  or MAT 141  or MAT 243

Corequisite: CHE 261L  and one math if not already taken: MAT 131  or MAT 141  or MAT 243
