Return to: Arts & Sciences Academic Programs
This major is offered through the School of Arts & Sciences. It is designed for students who desire a wide-ranging liberal arts education. The history program includes the Christian Studies core, a strong general education distribution of courses, and the major emphasis in history. The skills and knowledge acquired through a history major serve as a foundational step towards various career paths, encompassing roles in history museums, historical sites, government, politics, business, civil service, library science, public administration, education, and beyond. A history major can serve as an excellent pre-seminary or legal studies program and as the foundation for graduate study in history and other fields such as political science and social service. The elective hours in the history program may be applied toward a number of minors.
