This major is offered through the School of Arts & Sciences. The Physical and Health Education major is designed to prepare students for a public and private teaching career as a K-12 Physical Education teacher and a 5-12 Health Education teacher. The program is structured to meet the Minnesota Board of Teaching Physical and Health Education dual licensure requirements. The student must be accepted into the Teacher Education Department and meet all of the requirements.

A minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper (300-400) level for a bachelor degree.

* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core and Major Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 125 credits is reached.

1 Interdisciplinary courses in the major core that are cross listed as BIB or THE will fulfill this requirement. Choose Christian Ministry electives from CHM 300 , CHM 301  or CHM 326 .

2 Select humanities electives from COM, ENG, FAR, HIS, HUM, LAN, MUS, PHI, or PRC.

3 Select social science electives from ANT, CSJ, ECO, GEO, HIS, POL, PSY, or SOC.

4 Students who scored high enough on the ACT to petition to waive EDU 209  (consult the teacher education department for more information), may need to take an extra credit of general elective courses to reach the institutional minimum of 125 credits for a baccalaureate degree.

This program is subject to change based on the Minnesota State Board of Teaching licensing revisions.
