Worship Ministry Major (B.S.)


Those who minister in worship arts are frequently called upon to help in other ministry areas of a church. This major combines a music foundation with ministry coursework to equip the graduate to serve more effectively in the church.  

Program Requirements


Christian Studies Core

A minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper (300-400) level for a bachelor degree.

* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core and Major Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 125 credits is reached.

Total - 125 Credits


1 Interdisciplinary courses in the major core that are cross listed as BIB or THE will fulfill this requirement. Choose Christian Ministry electives from CHM 201 , CHM 211 , CHM 300  or CHM 325 .

2 Select humanities electives from COM, ENG, FAR, HIS, HUM, LAN, MUS, PHI, or PRC.

3 Select social science electives from ANT, CSJ, ECO, GEO, HIS, POL, PSY, or SOC.

Students have the option to declare a second major in Christian Studies which is earned by completing the Christian Studies Core plus six credits of upper level Bible/Theology electives (which are part of the major core).

Option: Accelerated Degree Programs


Qualified students in the B.S. in Worship Ministry program may apply for an accelerated degree program to earn their Christian Studies (M.A.)  (MACS) degree in one additional year instead of the typical two years. Students may also apply for an accelerated Master of Divinity (M.Div.)  program. Click here for more detailed information regarding the acceptance process for these options.

Departmental Acceptance


Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester or their junior year fall semester. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA with a GPA of 2.5 for courses in the major is required for departmental admission in the Worship Ministry major.
