General Studies Major (A.A.)

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Online Studies Academic Programs

The General Studies curriculum is designed for students who desire to transfer into a bachelor’s degree program and who want the flexibility to broaden or narrow their first two years of undergraduate education. Students, with the guidance of an academic advisor, can design a transfer curriculum to meet particular needs as well as the specific requirements of the institution to which they may transfer.

In addition, the General Studies program provides an opportunity for students who want an education designed to meet their goals in a degree program but who do not intend to transfer.

II. General Education Core - 31 Credits

III. Concentration - 10 Credits

  • Humanities Electives 6 Credits 2
  • Social Science Electives 3 Credits 2
  • MAT/SCI Elective 1 Credits

IV. Electives - 1-4 Credits

If students take 18 or 21 credits in the Christian Studies core, the extra credits can be applied towards general electives. Otherwise, consult with an academic advisor for elective options.

Total - 60-62 Credits

1 Counts towards 3 credits of Social Science credits. Students who have successfully completed 60 credits with a GPA of at least a 2.0 may replace SOC 1510  with another Social Science elective.

3 Students may choose to fulfill the BIB/THE/CM elective requirement by taking BIB 1522  or THE 3524 .

* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core and Major Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 60 credits is reached.
