Accounting Major (B.S.)

This degree prepares a student to enter into the field of accounting. The degree was designed for students entering into business as an accountant or to continue their degree work in accountancy. The unique blend of accounting principles coupled with foundational biblical truth provides an excellent preparation for the field. The program includes coursework in business, math, and Bible to develop excellence in academics from a Christian worldview. In addition, numerous accounting courses are included, as well as a field experience. Finally, students may elect to fulfill Crown’s 30 hours of Bible, theology and Christian ministries courses and earn a second degree in Christian Studies. Crown is interested in students’ academic preparation as well as preparing the whole person for professional life. Faculty and staff have a breadth of experience and practical knowledge and work alongside students as mentors and advisors. While studying accounting, students will come to appreciate how God uniquely designed them for a challenging profession.

* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. In addition, some courses required by the major can be used to fulfill requirements in the Christian Studies or General Education Cores. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 125 credits is reached.
Total - 125 Credits
1 Select humanities electives from COM, ENG, FAR, HIS, HUM, LAN, MUS, PHI, or PRC.
2 Select social science electives from ANT, CSJ, ECO, GEO, HIS, POL, PSY, or SOC.
At least 30% of this degree, or a minimum of 38 credits, must be at the upper (300-400) level.

Option: Accelerated Degree Program
Qualified students in the B.S. in Accounting program may apply for an accelerated degree program to earn their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in an additional year and a half instead of the typical two and a half years. Departmental Acceptance
Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester or their junior year fall semester. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and completion of half of the service credit requirements are required for departmental admission in the Accounting major.
