Chair: Dr. Leslie Mathews
The Teacher Education Department prepares teachers for Christian leadership in public and private schools through face-to-face classes at the St. Bonifacius campus in Minnesota. The department offers programs in elementary education (K-6), social studies education (5-12), and communication arts and literature education (5-12). In addition, elementary education candidates choose a concentration in either a middle school license (communication arts and literature, social studies, science, or math) or a preprimary endorsement (ages 3-5).
Students who complete Crown College’s teacher education program demonstrate competency in planning, teaching, and assessment; developing and maintaining an effective learning environment; and in guiding the academic and personal growth of students.
The foundational studies in the Core Curriculum combined with strong major courses with clinical experiences produce teacher candidates prepared for successful teaching careers in Minnesota.
Teacher Licensure
All teacher licensure programs at Crown College are accredited by the Professional Educators Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB), so graduates of these programs are eligible for a Tier 3 teaching license in Minnesota upon successful program completion.
