BUS 323 - Digital Foundations in Business

FALL and SPRING

Data-centric businesses require business leaders to be conversant with data architecture, application development, and project management. The aim of this course is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to appreciate the challenges and opportunities related to developing robust and scalable systems at the core of digital solutions by emphasizing mastery of high-level concepts and design decisions. This course empowers students to make technology-related decisions, even if not in a technology role. Topics include business architecture, product management, project management, data architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, business applications, and web and mobile technologies. Students will learn the basics of coding with SQL and data science languages, utilize no/low-code tools (e.g. Zapier) to build data pipelines and applications, and gain exposure to integrated applications (e.g. Hubspot, Odoo.com, or similar platforms).
