BUS 414 - Applied Entrepreneurship and Innovation 3 Credits SPRING
This course offers a hands-on, application-focused approach to entrepreneurship, guiding students through turning innovative ideas into actionable business ventures. Building on the foundational and innovation principles, students will focus on the practical steps in fully launching and managing a new venture. The course covers key aspects of business development, including market research, value targeting, financial modeling, business model validation, customer acquisition, and operational execution. A key feature of the course is a business launch project, where students will form teams to develop, test, and prepare to launch a new product or service. The course incorporates prototyping, strategic planning, fund raising, cash flow management, and scaling for growth. By the end of the course, students will have develop a comprehensive business plan for launching their venture into the market, and then developing and delivering a formal pitch to an external panel of entrepreneurs or venture capitalists. Students will gain real world experience applying entrepreneurial principles in a team setting to manage profitable growth and drive innovation, while integrating faith-based ethics into ventures that create lasting value and positive societal impact.
