English Major (B.A.)

This major is offered through the School of Liberal Arts + Education. In addition to completing the Core Curriculum, students in the English program take a group of courses with a major emphasis in literature and writing. Working with an academic advisor, students choose elective courses to help them achieve their educational and vocational goals. The major serves as preparation for graduate studies in English and other fields such as church ministry, theology, journalism, linguistics, technical writing, library science, business, and education.

A minimum of 36 credits must be at the upper (300-400) level for a bachelor degree.

Departmental Acceptance


Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester or their junior year fall semester. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA is required for departmental admission in the Humanities and Social Science Department .
