Social Studies Education Major (B.S.)

This major is offered through the School of Arts & Sciences. The Social Studies Education major is designed to prepare students for a public and private teaching career in grades 5-12. The program is structured to meet the Minnesota Board of Teaching Social Studies licensure requirements. The student must be accepted into and fulfill all requirements for the Teacher Education Department as well as the Humanities and Social Science Department.

Departmental Acceptance
Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester or their junior year fall semester. A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA is required for departmental admission in the Social Studies Education major. Student must apply and be accepted into both the Teacher Education Department and Humanities and Social Science Department.
