The mission of this major is to equip men and women to enter non-traditional ministry roles in cities, campuses, prisons, group homes, etc. in order to holistically win and disciple the poor, hurting, and hungry.

* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core and Major Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 125 credits is reached.

¹Interdisciplinary courses in the major core that are cross listed as BIB or THE will fulfill this requirement. Choose Christian Ministry electives from CHM 201 , CHM 211 , CHM 300 or CHM 325 .

² Select humanities electives from COM, ENG, FAR, HIS, HUM, LAN, MUS, PHI, or PRC.

³ Select social science electives from ANT, CSJ, ECO, GEO, HIS, POL, PSY, or SOC.

Students have the option to declare a second major in Christian Studies which is earned by completing the Christian Studies Core plus six credits of upper level Bible/Theology electives (which are part of the major core).

Option: Accelerated Degree Programs

Qualified students may apply for an accelerated degree program to earn their Christian Studies (M.A.) (MACS) or Ministry Leadership (M.A.) (MAML) degree in one additional year instead of the typical two years. Students apply for departmental acceptance during their sophomore year spring semester or their junior year fall semester. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA with a GPA of 2.5 for courses in the major is required for departmental admission in the Youth/Social Ministry major.
