Entrance Requirements for the Department
B.S.N. Completion
The following are minimum threshold requirements to be considered for acceptance into the Crown College Nursing Department. Space may be limited, however; and not all qualified applicants are guaranteed departmental acceptance.
- Admission to Crown College School of Online Studies & Graduate School.
- Possess Associate of Science/Associate of Applied Science RN degree or Diploma RN degree from a State Board of Nursing approved Registered Nurse program.
- Meet the GPA requirement for admission, progression and graduation (minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale required).
- Have an unrestricted RN license from a State Board of Nursing in the United States of America.
- Have State Board of Nursing approval to practice as an RN in the state in which clinicals will take place.
- Proof of current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider through Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Agree to a background check to be completed by the Nursing Department and receive a satisfactory result. This data may be shared with clinical agencies prior to the student beginning each clinical experience.
- Provide one of the following negative TB test results within the past 12 months:
- Two-step Mantoux if no prior Mantoux within past 12 months
- Single-step Mantoux along with proof of prior Mantoux within past 12 months
- Clear chest x-ray within past 5 years for those who have had a positive reading or have received the BCG vaccine
- Provide documentation for rubella, rubeola, Hepatitis B series, mumps, varicella, Tetanus and Pertussis (10 year intervals). May opt to provide proof of immunity via titer results (blood draw).
- Comply with all policies and procedures of the most current editions of the Nursing Department B.S.N. Completion Student Handbook and Crown College Catalog.

Required Courses for the Nursing B.S.N. Completion Degree
I. Christian Studies Core - 15-21 Credits
II. General Education Core - 31 Credits
III. Major Core - 30 Credits
IV. Electives - 49 Credits
Total - 125 Credits
1 Counts towards 3 credits of Social Science credits. Students who have successfully completed 60 credits with a GPA of at least a 2.0 may replace SOC 1510 with another Social Science elective.

3 Transfer students may petition to substitute NUR 4620 for ICS 3610 in the Christian Studies core.
* Some courses from the Christian Studies Core and Major Core can be used to fulfill requirements in the General Education Core. By doing that the number of electives needed would increase so that the minimum of 125 credits is reached.
