Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

Prerequisites:  

1)  Old Testament Survey or Old Testament History (3 credits at the graduate or undergraduate level)

2)  New Testament Survey or New Testament History (3 credits at the graduate or undergraduate level)

NOTE:  These prerequisites can be fulfilled by taking Crown’s free online versions of these courses and passing the proficiency exam. Students may be conditionally admitted with the expectation that they will fulfill this requirement within their first year of study.

Students completing other graduate work at Crown College may elect to graduate from their degree program and then transfer applicable credits into the M.Div. degree program.

Required Courses for the Master of Divinity Degree


IV. Electives - 15 Credits


General electives should be selected in consultation with one’s academic advisor. General electives accepted for transfer into this degree program should normally fall within the areas of study represented by the concentrations. Students may choose one of the following ministry concentration options to fulfill their electives:

Disaster Management Concentration for M.Div.  

Executive Leadership Concentration for M.Div.  

Intercultural Ministries Concentration for M.Div.  

Pastoral Counseling Concentration for M.Div.  

Pastoral Leadership Concentration for M.Div.  

Spiritual Formation Concentration for M.Div.  

Theological Studies Concentration for M.Div.  

Total - 72 Credits


1 Students pursuing ordination with the C&MA should take CST 5222 - Alliance Distinctives  since this course fulfills the Alliance Polity requirements for the denomination.

2 These classes may also be used to fulfill the BBL electives:  CST 5227 CST 5238 CST 5310  and CST 6220 .

3 Students may apply to participate in the online chaplaincy program. Students approved to take MIN 5881  and MIN 5882  may use those courses to fulfill MIN 6920  and MIN 6922 .

Four-Year Program Plan for the Master of Divinity Program


The Crown Online M.Div. is flexible in that students with no transfer work can complete the degree in 2.5, 3, or 4 years. These flexible completion plans are designed to fit the life needs of our students. Those working full-time may want to choose a 4 year completion plan while others may be able to dedicate their full-time efforts to graduate school thus completing the degree in 2.5 years. With Crown’s block tuition plan, many students choose the 3 year completion plan in order to save time and money in their pursuit of the M.Div. Students may consult with their advisor to choose the plan that works best for their life circumstances.
