Biological and Health Sciences Department Chair: Dr. Leah Cook
At Crown College, the Biology Major (B.S.) and Exercise Science Major (B.S.) provide students with a rigorous academic foundation grounded in scientific inquiry and informed by a Christ-centered worldview. Both programs are designed to equip students with a strong understanding of biological systems while fostering intellectual curiosity, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to serving others.
The Biology Major (B.S.) emphasizes core biological principles, laboratory experience, and critical thinking skills essential for careers in research, healthcare, education, and graduate or professional study. Students gain broad exposure to the life sciences while developing competencies necessary for advanced scientific training.
The Exercise Science Major (B.S.) focuses on the scientific study of human movement, physical performance, and health. Students integrate knowledge from biology, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology to prepare for careers in health, fitness, rehabilitation, coaching, and related professional or graduate programs.
In addition to supporting these majors, the Department of Biological and Health Sciences contributes essential science and mathematics courses to the general education core curriculum, ensuring that all Crown College students develop scientific literacy and analytical skills applicable across disciplines.
