The Humanities and Social Science Department offers majors that lead to Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees. It also offers courses that support other departments and programs of the College. The department believes that a background in humanities courses provides students with a framework to integrate studies from other disciplines that will encourage intellectual and spiritual development. The broad liberal arts dimension of the majors offered by the department serves as a foundation for a variety of vocations and for further study at the graduate level. Students work with an academic advisor to select a minor and electives that will help them achieve their vocational goals.
Each of the majors in the Humanities and Social Science Department can accommodate students in the Honors Program. All Crown students have access to several study-abroad programs where a full semester of coursework may be transferred into a variety of programs. A two-year Associate of Arts degree is offered for students who desire an associate’s degree and those who plan to transfer to another institution to complete a baccalaureate degree.
