3 Credits
FALL

This course provides a survey and evaluation of current approaches to criminal justice reform, comparing approaches over the past 40 years in the United States. Students will examine difficulties and weaknesses in the criminal justice system and the value or weakness of various reform efforts. They also study a comparison of traditional and modern approaches to criminal justice involving both secular and biblical foundations. Students also undertake a critical analysis of Restorative Justice as a major movement in reform, including various definitions, theoretical origins and historical development along secular lines and in faith-based formats, key principles and substantive practices, global variations, and future directions and possibilities.
