PHI 438X - Development of the Modern Mind

This course offers an overview of the history of philosophy from the mid-eighteenth century to today and its impact on culture and theology. Surveying key philosophical writers, this course traces the development of thought and its outworking, especially in Western culture. The course examines the impact of this thought on significant theological trends of the twentieth century through an analysis of theologians representing various liberal, evangelical and neo-orthodox positions. Students will write are research paper on one of the key thinkers or movements during this time. (Also HIS 438X and THE 438X)
