DEM 3512 - Crisis and Risk Communication 3 Credits
This course examines communications that seek to inform different audiences of particular hazards to which they are exposed and the source of their vulnerability, as well as the methods for identifying and communicating appropriate solutions to the target audience(s). It will address the various interactions that may be required between emergency management officials and a full spectrum of relevant stakeholders, including the emergency services and other responding or responsible agencies, the general and disaster impacted public, the private and NGO sectors, mutual aid partners and other neighboring jurisdictions, the media, and many others.
